Manning requirements for River-Sea Vessels

Applicable to: Owners and operators of River-Sea Vessels
Effective Date: Immediate
Superseded Circulars: None mentioned

Key Changes and Requirements

1. Manning Options

Owners of River-Sea Vessels (RSVs) can now choose between two manning options:

  • Option 1: Follow the manning scale prescribed in DGS Order No. 4 of 2008 for RSVs.
  • Option 2: Follow the manning scale prescribed for Merchant Shipping Vessels (MSVs) of similar size, area of operation, and engine power, as per relevant M.S. Rules/Notices/Circulars.

2. Logbook Entry

In all cases, the Master must make an entry in the official logbook stating:

  • Actual manning provision onboard the vessel.
  • Relevant rules under which the manning scale was derived.
Note: This order is an interim measure until a revised notification for River-sea Vessels is issued.
Important Note

Ensure that the chosen manning scale provides safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
