Applicable to: Candidates who obtained MEO Class IV certificate under ATS and completed 12 months sea service
Effective Date: 28.11.2007
Superseded Circulars: Training Circular No. 7 of 2007

Key Changes and Requirements

1. Bridging Course Introduction

A 2-month bridging course has been introduced for ATS candidates who have completed the required sea service to become eligible for MEO Class II examinations.

  • Duration: 2 months
  • Syllabus: Covers the difference between 4-year MERI and ATS syllabus (Appendices M-III/1A.6A, M-III/1A.6B, M-III/1A.6C, META Manual, Volume 1)

2. Course Requirements and Timing

Candidates must first attend the 2-month bridging course and then the 4-month course (including simulator course) to be eligible for MEO Class II examinations.

  • Existing Candidates: Those already waiting for the 6-month course can join the 4-month course and later attend the bridging course as a special case.
  • New ATS Candidates: Those joining new batches of the ATS course will not require the 2-month bridging course.
Institutes: Must develop and apply for the 2-month bridging course at the earliest along with the curriculum details.
Important Note

This special permission for existing candidates will be valid only until an approved ATS institute commences the new 2-month bridging course.
