Key Changes and Requirements
1. New Decision Making Process
The Directorate will now follow a committee-based decision process for approving Training Institutes and their courses.
- Collegium: An in-house body consisting of the Director General of Shipping, Joint Director General of Shipping, Chief Surveyor, Nautical Advisor, Dy. Director General of Shipping (Training), and co-opted members.
- Role: Scrutinize approvals, address Academic Council issues, and improve institutional arrangements.
2. First Meeting and Decisions
The first meeting will decide on restructuring the Academic Council, inspection methods, capacity building, and other institutional arrangements.
Pending proposals from the Training Branch will also be considered.
II/4 The Collegium will take decisions on matters pertaining to the Academic Council in consultation with the Training Branch.

This order is issued with the approval of the Director General of Shipping and Ex-Officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India.
