Key Changes and Requirements

1. Recent PSC Detentions

  • M.V. Maratha Messenger: Detained by AMSA in Australia due to an inoperative emergency fire pump. The issue was resolved quickly, but the vessel was still detained.
  • M.T. Ratna Shalini: Detained in South Korea due to a non-operative display unit of the oil content meter. The owners have appealed for revocation of the detention.

2. Advisory and Compliance Obligations

All ship owners and officers are advised to:

  • Prepare: for detailed PSC inspections at any time.
  • Avoid: further detentions to maintain Indian ships' status under various MOUs.
Important Note

Extra care and preparation could have prevented both detentions.
