Key Changes and Requirements
1. Eligibility Criteria Relaxation
Cadets with 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and who have completed an approved pre-sea education and training course, are now eligible to appear for the Second Mate (Foreign Going) exam without attending the foundation course and written examination.
- Duration of Relaxation: Initially applicable for two years, effective from July 2005
- Review: The relaxation will be reviewed based on feedback from concerned parties

Cadets appearing for the Second Mate (Foreign Going) exam in July 2005 and onwards may avail this benefit
