Substitution of function pass to subject pass for STCW competency examination
Applicable to:
Candidates appearing for 2nd Mate, Mates Phase 1 & 2, and NCV written examinations
Effective Date:
1st July 2005 onwards

Key Changes and Requirements
1. New Passing Rule
Candidates no longer need to repeat passed papers to clear a function. They will only need to write exams for papers they have not passed.
- Validity: Passed papers are valid for five years from the month of the exam.
2. Fee Structure
The fee structure for appearing in a particular function remains unchanged.
Results: From 1st July 2005, results will indicate papers passed/unpassed.
