Key Changes and Requirements
1. Eligibility for CDC
Ex-Coast Guard Ratings up to the age of 45 years are now eligible to obtain a Certificate of Competency (CDC) and join the Merchant Navy.
- Eligible Age: Up to 45 years
- Previous Service: Recognition of seagoing service at par with Indian Naval ratings
2. Application Process
Ex-Coast Guard Ratings should apply for CDC under the M.S (CDC) Rules, 2001, as amended from time to time.
- Application Rules: M.S (CDC) Rules, 2001
- Other Conditions: Same as applicable to ex-Naval ratings
