Key Changes and Requirements
1. Safety Measures and Precautions
Seafarers must take the following precautions when working on deck during rough weather:
- Life Jacket: Always wear a life jacket.
- Life-line: Use life-lines and secure them rigidly across open decks.
- Inform Bridge: Inform the bridge before starting work to adjust course if necessary.
- Work Vest: Use approved work vests for better visibility and safety.
2. Equipment Maintenance and Improvement
Maintain and improve equipment as follows:
- Drain Taps: Replace drain plugs with drain taps for easier operation.
- Drain Plugs: Keep drain plugs free for opening.
II/4 Always inform the officer on navigation watch before starting work on deck in heavy weather.
