Key Changes and Requirements
1. Mandatory Training
All Indian seafarers must complete the following training by 31st January 2024:
- Mandatory Refresher Training: To be completed annually.
- Electronic Charts and Bridge Navigation Watch Alarm System (BNWAS) Training: To be completed once every 5 years.
2. Training Providers
Only approved training providers can conduct the above-mentioned training. The list of approved providers can be found on the Directorate General of Shipping website.

3. Compliance and Penalties
Failure to comply with these training requirements may result in penalties as per the Merchant Shipping (Training) Rules, 2016.
Important Note
Seafarers are advised to plan their training well in advance to avoid any last-minute rush or inconvenience.
