Career Progression for Candidates Not Meeting Eligibility Criteria
1. Admission Contravention and Undertaking
International Maritime Academy, Chennai (MTI No. 406026) admitted candidates below minimum eligibility criteria for various pre-sea courses, contravening DGS Training Circular 12 of 2020. The MTI later provided an undertaking to adhere to the eligibility criteria.
2. Career Progression Advice
The Directorate advises the following for candidates who do not meet the minimum admission criteria but have completed courses:
- Nautical Candidates: Follow NCV stream, appear for NWKO (NCV) exam, and convert to Foreign-going (FG) as per TEAP Manual.
- Engineering Candidates: Follow NCV stream, appear for MEO Class IV (NCV) exam, and convert to Foreign-going (FG) as per TEAP Manual.

Candidates must follow the advice above to progress in their careers. Failure to do so may result in non-recognition of their qualifications.
