Conduct of Maritime Pre-Sea courses for candidates who are unable to use Virtual Class/Live Video Sessions (VC/LVS).
Key Changes and Requirements
1. MTI Responsibilities
MTIs must ensure that candidates unable to use Virtual Class/Live Video Sessions (VC/LVS) receive complete training once normal classes resume.
- 1.1 MTIs must allow candidates to resume classes at the institute once it reopens.
- 1.2 MTIs must not start new batches until ongoing batches are completed.
- 1.3 MTIs must maintain records of candidates who completed courses using VC/LVS.
- 1.4 MTIs must submit a list of candidates unable to attend VC/LVS sessions to the Directorate by 15th June 2020.
2. Examination Dates and Batch Commencement
The "Board of Examination of Seafarers" will communicate examination dates and the next batch starting date for "Training for General Purpose Ratings" and "Certificate Course for Maritime Catering" pre-sea courses.
MTIs must not commence new batches for these two courses until notified by the Directorate.
If any affected candidate was not imparted requisite training, serious disciplinary action will be initiated against the MTI. The MTI will also be prevented from using VC/LVS for future maritime courses.
