Conduct of maritime Courses using Virtual Classes / Live Video Sessions.
Key Changes and Requirements
1. Eligible Candidates
The following pre-sea course candidates can undergo shipboard training as a departure from the usual course design, provided they have successfully attended/completed their theory/lecture part and five basic safety courses.
- BE / B-Tech in Marine Engineering final year
- B. Sc. (Nautical Science) final year
- Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS), final semester
- Graduate Marine Engineering (CME)
- Electro-Technical Officer
2. Course Completion and Eligibility
Candidates must successfully complete their practical part of the curriculum and pass the final examination before applying for any Certificate of Competency examination. They can complete their shipboard training before completing required practicals and examinations.
3. Duration and Confirmation Letter
These provisions are applicable until training in MTIs resumes after normalcy. MTIs must confirm each student's completion of the theory part by issuing a confirmation letter in the prescribed format (Annexure-1). Only students with a confirmation letter will be allowed for shipboard training.
MTIs must ensure students acquire deeper knowledge and understanding of theoretical concepts/techniques and guide them on safety precautions during shipboard training.
