1. Issuance of Seafarers Identity Document (SID) — MS Notice 2 of 2019
The issuance of SID to Indian seafarers has been launched. The SID project is a collaboration between the Directorate General of Shipping and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Mumbai.
- SID Issuance: The issuance involves collection of biometric and demographic details, their verification, and then issuance of SID.
- SID Data Collection Centers: Three data collection centers have been set up at Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai. More centers will be established at other major ports.
- SID Application: Applications can be made online at www.dgshippingsid.in. Applicants must pay the application fee and schedule an appointment for data collection.
