1. Upgradation Training Course

The Upgradation Training Course is mandatory for Deck Officers, Chief Mates, and Masters holding STCW 1995 COCs to comply with the STCW 2010 amendments.

  • Duration: The course duration is 6 months for Chief Mates and Masters, and 4 months for Deck Officers.
  • Course Content: The course covers advanced shipboard management, navigation, safety, and environmental protection.
  • Assessment: The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments.
  • Application: Applications for the course should be made to the Director General of Shipping, Mumbai.

2. Deadline for Completion

All affected seafarers must complete the Upgradation Training Course by 31 December 2021 to comply with the STCW 2010 amendments.

Important Note

Seafarers who fail to complete the Upgradation Training Course by the specified deadline may face restrictions on their service on board ships.
