Superseded Circulars: Corrigendum to DGS Order 5 of 2016 dated 02.12.16

Key Changes and Requirements

1. Course Approval Changes — Revised Schedule I of DGS Order No.5 of 2016

New approvals/enhancements for competency courses require approval for the 'parent' lower level course. However, institutes can apply for lower and higher levels simultaneously. Higher level course approvals lapse if the corresponding lower level course is not conducted within 12 months.

  • Note: Higher levels of competency courses commenced within those 12 months can be completed.

2. Refresher and Updating Courses — Management and operational level courses

New approval/enhancement for 'Refresher and Updating' courses for management and operational level courses requires approval for the highest level of the corresponding competency course.

3. NCV to Foreign Going Certificates — Conversion courses (Limited to 3000 GT)

New approval/enhancement for NCV to foreign going certificates (Limited to 3000 GT) requires approval for the respective foreign going competency course.

4. Basic Courses Package — Personal Survival Techniques, PSSR, Elementary First Aid, FPFF, and STSDSD

New approval/enhancement for basic courses will be considered as a composite package at any point of time for all training institutes.

5. Minimum Courses Requirement — Institute approval withdrawal
