Key Changes and Requirements
1. Temporary Exemption of TAR Book Requirement
Until 31st January 2002, engine ratings serving on large coastal vessels and all foreign-going vessels are exempted from producing a TAR Book as a prerequisite for watch keeping certification.
- Exemption Period: Until 31st January 2002
- Applicable Vessels: Large coastal vessels and all foreign-going vessels
II/4 After 31st January 2002, it will be mandatory for engine ratings joining sea to produce the TAR Book as a prerequisite for eligibility for watch keeping certification.
