1. Employment through Registered RPS Providers Only
The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has issued a warning regarding employment through unregistered manning agents.
- Manning Agencies: Must obtain registration from DGS under the Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2005 as amended.
- Unregistered Agencies: Are liable for legal action under appropriate provisions of law.
- Indian Seafarers: Should obtain placement only through registered agencies to ensure legal protection and assistance.
Important Note
Employment through unregistered agencies may result in legal complications and lack of government assistance in case of unfortunate events.
