Key Changes and Requirements
1. Revised Performance Standards
New performance standards for GMDSS radiocommunication equipment are in effect as of 01 January 2024.
- VHF: MSC.511(105)
- MF & MF/HF: MSC.512(105)
- Inmarsat-C: MSC.513(105)
2. Compliance Timeline
Compliance with the new standards is required by 01 January 2028 for:
- VHF, MF, MF/HF, Inmarsat-C installations
Until then, older standards (not inferior to those specified in resolutions 4.803(19), A.804(19), 4.806(19), and A.807(19)) remain applicable.
II/4 VHF radiocommunication equipment should be updated to meet IMO and ITU regulatory requirements following the first radio survey after 01 January 2028.
Important Note
Non-compliance may result in vessels being deemed unseaworthy and unable to proceed to sea.
