Key Changes and Requirements
1. Amendments to FTP Code
The International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (FTP Code) has been amended. The amendments are effective from 1st January 2024.
- Amendments: Res.MSC.437(99) of 24th May 2018
- Effective Date: 1st January 2020
2. Applicability
The amended FTP Code is mandatory under Chapter II-2 of the SOLAS Convention for Indian vessels.
Note: The plastic pipes used in the accommodation area of passenger ships shall meet the test requirements for 'Smoke generation and Toxicity' as per Res.A.753(18) as amended.
Important Note
All stakeholders are advised to comply with the provisions of the amended FTP Code to give full effect to the IMO regulations.
